It was the night before Christmas and at our place
the Wi-Fi provided a strong interface.
The pre-strung tree stood by the smart TV with care
and L E D mistletoe hung in the air.
The kids were all dreaming of video games,
while visions of superheroes called out their names.
My love and I felt we could finally rest.
We clicked on Netflix to see what was the best.
When out in the street we could hear a disturbance;
we jumped to our feet and we ran for assurance.
We peeked out the window, our smartphones in hand.
My love said, “Be careful, let’s watch where we stand”.
Headlights were shining on the new fallen snow
and three vans were parked in the circle below.
Then we witnessed a sight that was quite amazing;
U P S, Fed Ex and the Postman all racing.
Each of the drivers was so lively and quick.
They were dressed head to toe in a holiday shtick.
Faster than sprinters in the moonlight they ran
delivering packages then back to each van.
As they met one another they greeted by name;
if one needed help it was given the same.
Then all drove away, one after the other;
in the distance we heard great joy and laughter.
As each of the vans almost faded from sight,
their bright tail lights rose, joining stars in the night.
Our pics are on Facebook you can see for yourselves.
We may have just seen today’s Jolly Old Elves!
