A Dog Nose Knows

Any dog lover knows,
A dog has an astounding nose.
Nostrils poised to sense each whiff,
During walks dogs mostly sniff.

Canines are olfactory profound.
Blind and deaf they’re homeward bound.
Dogs greet in a nose to tail way,
Once sniffed they’re friends to stay.

A path is a dog’s internet.
Trees are social sites for your pet.
Dogs read each post with great intent,
Then reply with designer scent.

Dog lovers know dogs see a smell,
If you know a dog you can tell.
Dogs and people may be best friends,
For their strength starts where ours ends.

“Tell the Truth but tell it Slant –“
Too much Slant - Truth will Slide –
In a heap- Retrieve we can't –
Better if we - hadn't Tried -

Note:  first line from Emily Dickinson
